Requirements
This client came to Mindfly with several needs including integration with their existing reservation system, a Facebook custom page, an eCommerce store and the ability to show how each room was unique. They wanted users of the site to feel like the online experience was similar to the real-life experience of staying in the INN - modern, fun, and full of subtle surprises.
Solutions
We started with a tour of the INN and built a solid foundation as to what information needed to be conveyed to the user and how it would be organized. Next followed an aggressive design that involved several areas of animation, especially on the "Stay at the Inn" page where users can interact with a map to see images of each room.
Rooms at the INN were photographed especially for the new site and those photos play a major role in giving the user the look and feel of the property. The sense of humor comes out in subtle ways such as the "VIEWometer" and "STEPometer" in the room detail pages.
An eCommerce solution was included that maintaned the 'simplicity' theme of the reception room so users can purchase items they use in the rooms duing their INN stay. The reservation system skin and Facebook design rolled out about a week before the big launch.
