The Evil You Need - Microsoft's New VPC Hard Disk Image for IE6

by Kyle Weems 13.December 2007 15:44

The time has come again (well, technically it came about a week ago) to download a new virtual hard disk with the modern day equivalent to the necronomicon. By which I mean, of course, Internet Explorer 6.

Microsoft's VPC Hard Disk Image, with IE6 on it for testing purposes, expired on December 7th. Well, the older version did. However, for those web designers who don't keep a spare computer around with the world's second worst browser on it (the worst being without a doubt IE 5.5 for Mac, a thing so dark and evil that the very light in the room is incapable of escaping the jovian pull of its black soul), there's still the need to test how badly your website will look to a third of the world's Internet-browsing population.

Kyle to Earth: Upgrade your web browser.

Fortunately, Microsoft isn't entirely heartless and has a new version of the VPC Hard Disk image. You can get it here.

Once you've done that, like me you can cry yourself to sleep at night seeing the hideous mess that Internet Explorer 6 makes of your elegant, inspired designs.
