Web Buzzwords
What is the big deal with all these Buzzwords about websites, and how do I select a Web Design firm?
The computer business’s rampant use of “tech-talk” can be a huge turn off for a lot of folks who need a web site, but are unclear as to what they hear and read during the process. So what do you do?
Well, the mission is clear. Find someone who can talk about what they propose to do for you in plain terms, without having to resort to “impressing” with acronyms, nuances, hardware and obscure references to concepts that might as well be spoken in Martian. If you knew all this stuff, it’s likely that you wouldn’t need someone to construct your project for you! And just because someone has at their command a string of verbiage that you don’t comprehend, doesn’t make them the expert.
So, with your buzzword guard up, you enter the fray. There are two distinct (and very viable) categories of Web Designers. The home office crowd fills the starter need, and gets folks online with sites usually constructed in Dreamweaver or FrontPage templates. These applications are fine, and will work great as entry level sites. Customers with more advanced needs and goals will need to interview Design firms that create custom projects that focus on ROI (see! I snuck in a financial acronym, Return on Investment), customer usability, search engine effectiveness, long term maintenance and upkeep, and things like making the site look good on various browsers and computer platforms (Macs, PCs, Blackberrys, etc.) Here at Mindfly we’re a staff of 7 friendly folks whose sole business is the construction, maintenance, and promotion of quality sites that are effective, easy to maintain, and something that you and your business will be proud of for many years. We code all sites individually to target your audience. Are you ready for an analogy?
You are hungry, and a muffin sounds good. Do you:
a)Stop in at the gas station off the freeway and grab a shrink wrapped muffin made in New Jersey circa 2005 with a dubious contribution to your health.
b)Swing by the local bakery where they bake muffins using organic grains and local fruits.
Please consider Mindfly for your next Website, we are good for your health!
